On the occasion of Mother's Day, Actress Juhi Parmar got in a conversation with us where she spoke about her Motherhood journey, how she is spending time with her daughter in the lockdown period, role of her Mother in her career and much more:

Can you share something about your motherhood experience and what are the changes that it has brought into you as a person?

Motherhood is a learning experience, you learn everyday. You don't have any pre-written rules and everyday you get to know a lot of things about yourself as a mother. Earlier, you don't know how to handle a particular situation which you understand when you handle it already and then you look back and you feel like okay, great. So yes, it's a learning process and something which I feel is most important learning process of my life. Because I have become a much more patient person after becoming a mother.

Now that we are all confined in the four walls of our house in this lockdown period, so how are you keeping your daughter busy?

It is not difficult to keep them busy but yes it is difficult to keep them entertained. Mostly, to keep them busy people will switch on TV, give them phones and how many hours they are watching we don't even realize. But I don't agree to this and I don't allow watching Samairra watching too much Television or playing games and all on the phone. So I have to keep on thinking of ways to keep her entertained productively. So I make her do studies or art and craft or assign videos to her because my videos are also kind of videos where she is doing some or other activity. She's a very happy and involved child. Whatever I make her do, she gets involved in it completely and our day goes by and then she has her reading time, she loves to read. She has many story books and nice, interesting and inspirational books that she reads. So it's not that difficult to keep her busy.

As a daughter, how important has your Mother's role been in your journey in your acting career?

In career to my personal life, in every way, my Mother and my Father both of them have been so important. And it is important even today because if today I am able to get back to work, I'm a single mother, leaving your child at home with the domestic help is something which I was not comfortable with. I always knew that I want to go to work only if my daughter is in safe hands and nobody can be safer than my parents and I can't trust anybody else. So their role is so important because had they not taken the responsibility of being their for my child, I won't have been able to get back to my career after becoming a mother. I totally owe it to them that I am able to work today again and keep following my dream and pursing my work.

Lastly, any message for mothers who want to keep their kids entertained and busy in this quarantine period?

I want to tell all the mothers that please have the screen time very limited. You are not growing them up to be very intelligent kids if you just leave them to watch television and cartoons all the time. Don't give them phones because it's not good for their health. Look for ways to keep them busy, involve them in things that you are doing and if they see that they are part of it and they are involved, they do things more happily. So even if I am doing some work in the kitchen, I give her some little thing to do and she feels a part of it and she does it happily. Try to keep them engaged in things that you are doing.
