Johnny Depp's comeback to 'Pirates of the Caribbean' may happen says ex-Disney official post the trial result

The defamation trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard which lasted six weeks finally came to a close on June 1 when a jury judgement was revealed. In the cases they had filed against one other, the ultimate judgement held both Amber and Johnny responsible for defamation, and both parties were ordered to pay damages. 

Following the same, there have been rumours that Johnny may reprise his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

According to a report by the People, a former Disney executive believes Depp might return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise now that the case has been resolved and his career is projected to rebound. Speaking to People, the executive said, 

"I absolutely believe post-verdict that Pirates is primed for rebooting with Johnny as Capt. Jack is back on board. "There is just too much potential box-office treasure for a beloved character deeply embedded in the Disney culture." 

Johnny was previously questioned during his defamation trial if he would return to the brand if Disney approached him again, and he stated that he would decline the offer.

Depp earned an Oscar nomination for playing Jack Sparrow in the original 2004 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The hit sequels came out in 2006, 2007, 2011 and 2017.

Pirates of the Caribbean has been one of Depp's most popular franchise films, and the actor's portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow has been a fan favourite.

On the big screen, we'd all want to see Johnny Depp as our favourite Captain Jack Sparrow once again.
