The country has been witnessing numerous protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). The disturbing violence and brutality faced by students at Jamia Milia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University, and most recently Jawaharlal Nehru Univerisity has been alarming and the startling pictures, videos have been surfacing online which has created havoc amongst people of the nation.

Many prominent personalities have come forward to raise their voices against the violence taking place at JNU. While Deepika Padukone made a visit to the students and stood with them in solidarity, Sonali Bendre has posted a considerate post on her social media, expressing her fear of what the future holds for her son.

“As a parent as I look out at the world today and I am uncertain of what the future holds for my child. Yes, I am very disturbed - the world is on fire quite literally” she began the post.

Sonali further wrote, “What should have been a chance for an open dialogue turned into a violent push of certain ideologies. The repeated attacks on educational institutions has shaken me and young India. The rage that is building, does not bode well for all of us and I find myself unable to dismiss my fears. Myriad questions crowd my thinking, with no clear answers, Are there any?”

To conclude, the actress hopes for peace in the country as she writes, “As we unfurl our tricolour on our 70th Republic Day, let’s pledge to stem the violence and learn to choose peace."

It’s dangerous & sad if masked people enter an educational institution and all this happens.”
