Jayeshbhai Jordaar gets a pass from Delhi HC; new disclaimers to be added

The Delhi High Court had previously demanded a screening for Ranveer Singh's film Jayeshbhai Jordaar pertaining to a sex-determination scene. The bench, led by acting Chief Justice Vipin Sangh, ordered Yash Raj Films to display the particular scene with a proper disclaimer, or the release would be put to stay. Jayeshbhai Jordaar also stars Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah and stars Shalini Pandey opposite Ranveer Singh.

The Delhi high court has approved the theatrical release of Ranveer Singh's Jayeshbhai Jordaar on May 13 but has asked the producers to add new disclaimers. The court was hearing a petition to have a scene depicting a pre-natal sex determination test removed.

According to a Bar and Bench report, the court's order was as follows: "We also watched the trailer and watched the relevant movie scenes. We suggested that certain additional disclaimers be included in the trailer as well as in the film when scenes involving ultrasound and other related scenes are shown. Without prejudice to his submissions, the learned senior counsel has consented to represent a further static warning/disclaimer during the running of both scenes."

On the bench, Justices Naveen Chawla and Manoj Kumar Ohri viewed the relating scenes from the film. 

During the hearing, the bench stated that the filmmakers must ensure that social ills are not glamorised onscreen. On behalf of the producers, senior advocate Jayant Mehta cited references from two recent films, Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi and Deepika Padukone's Padmaavat, to argue that the movie must be seen in its totality.
