Jay Soni on being bombarded with requests to get 'Sasural Genda Phool' back during lockdown

Sequels and reboots have been more prevalent than ever when it comes to TV shows lately where more and more popular shows from back then are coming back with new seasons.

On that note, yet another popular show is coming back as we know in the form of Sasural Genda Phool 2. While we do know that Ragini Khanna isn't playing the lead this time, but she is playing a cameo in the show.

Jay Soni though, reprises his role in the sequel and he went on to talk about it in an interview with ETimes TV. 

Soni said, “The season one was a massive hit so the expectations from season 2 are even more higher: I was bombarded with messages and requests on my social media especially during the lockdown. People were re-watching Sasural Genda Phool on OTT and were really intrigued with the idea of a joint family and staying with your loved ones because in lockdown many people couldn’t meet their loved ones. So many of them just had a rerun of the show with their family and demanded for season 2. So for all of the audience who have been eagerly waiting for this, it's finally coming and I am really happy and excited for everyone to watch it." 

He further added, “The show has done so much for me as a person when I first played Ishaan that I absolutely had to say yes the second time I was asked to be on the show, without an ounce of doubt. I am happy this call was taken and the show is coming back on your television. Being on the show once again is like going down the happy memory lane. Bringing the same character to life once again for the audience to love it just as they did the first time is not an easy task but, the character brings such happiness and positivity to my life, being the way it is written, I would any day want to give it my best shot as many times as I get the honour to. Playing Ishaan again is extremely nostalgic and I am genuinely looking forward to the audiences’ love for the show as it is a story that has and will definitely touch hearts."

As known, Shagun Sharma is taking over from Khanna as the female lead in the show.
