Javed Ali: Superstar Singer Will be an Overall Entertainment!

Sony Entertainment Television is coming up with a music reality show for children titled, Superstar Singer. The show has a different concept where children from different states will showcase their talent in music, someone will play a harmonium and sing, while someone will play flute et al. 

The show will be judged by an ensemble panel of judges including Alka Yagnik, Himesh Reshammiya and Javed Ali. Whereas, contestants will be divided into teams headed by captains Jyotica Tangri, Salman Ali, Sachin Valmiki and Nitin Kumar.

Recently, we got in touch with ace singer and one of the judges of the show, Javed Ali and spoke to him on various aspects of Superstar Singer and more. 

Here are the excerpts from the conversation that we had with him...

Please tell us something about the show. What will be new in this show?

I can’t reveal much at the moment, but this show is on the same lines of Super Dancer. There are four captains heading teams of four contestants each and the captains will groom these contestants.

There are many singing reality shows going on simultaneously on the television, how different is Superstar Singer?

The show is going to be very different. It has a lot of emotions, people will smile, they will cry, they will enjoy the fun and it will be an overall entertainment. If a show has all these qualities, then how will it be not a success!

Any funny incident from the sets that you’d like to share with us

When there are children involved there are going to be many funny incidents. I remember one such audition of Abhay, a four-year-old who sang while playing the harmonium. So, we asked him to give us his harmonium, in return we told him that we will give him chocolates and ice-creams. He had only one reply, Nai (No). The way he told this was so innocent and cute that I still remember his name.

Today, the industry is somewhere lacking originality when it comes to music. Many remixes are being produced. Please tell us something about it

It’s a trend. There’s a cycle of a trend that changes with time. In 2004-2005, Remix was in trend, even I had sung so many remix songs including Bin Tere Sanam, Koi Roko Naa and Kya Khoob Lagati Ho. After ten years the trend has shifted back to remix and many songs are remixed and recreated for films. I’ll say that the trend keeps changing.
