Javed Akhtar speaks about his marriage to Shabana Azmi

In a recent visit on a talk show hosted by Arbaaz Khan, seasoned author Javed Akhtar revealed some intriguing details about his marriage. The renowned author described his wife as "independent and strong-minded."

When Arbaaz asked Javed Akhtar to spell the recipe of a ‘successful marriage’, he said that, Living with a strong, independent woman is not always a bed of roses. "Sometimes you have to push her, but you should always keep in mind that she is your equal, Kahin aap ko push bhi karna padega." 

Arbaaz also mentioned Javed's excessive drinking in his youth and how he just stopped drinking one day. To this, Javed responded that he drank because he enjoyed it, not to drown his sorrows.

Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi tied the knot in 1984. Javed has two kids from his first marriage to Honey Irani – actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar. Recently, Shabana Azmi had shared a priceless family picture, wherein she was seen posing with Javed Akhtar, alongwith Farhan and his wife Shibani Dandekar, Zoya and Honey Irani. 

Talking about the workfront, Shabana Azmi was last seen in the 2022 movie What's Love Got to Do With It? Her upcoming projects include Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The film is directed by Karan Johar and is all set to release in July this year.
