Janhvi on Recreating mom Sridevi's songs, 'I don’t know, all her songs from Chandni and Kaate Nahi Kat Te from Mr India'

Sridevi carved a niche for herself in the male-dominated industry with sheer hard-work and her quirk to grasp impeccable characters. Being a mother of two, the actress had to take a break from her acting career and offer love to her daughters - Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. 

Now, it is suspected that her daughter Janhvi who might be the one carry forward the legacy of her mom and make a significant impact in the industry and the audience. And she has already seen her share of struggle. 

While Janhvi’s fans are excited to see her in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Roohi Afzana, she recently opened up about the dance numbers originally performed by her mother, she’d like to recreate.

In a recent interaction with Filmfare, The Dhadak girl admitted that she would be apprehensive about recreating the dance numbers. 

I don’t know, all her songs from Chandni and Kaate Nahi Kat Te from Mr India. It wasn’t a dance number, but she was so expressive with her body, there was no dance movement as such, but she still caught the beat and the rhythm and those latkas and jhatkas were all so perfect. Hawa Hawai was such a fun song. Apparently, the part where she’s having a ball of a time with the fruits and topi was absolutely done improv.

Janhvi also revealed a few dancing tips that she received from mom Sridevi. 

“Mom always thought that in dance it’s not all about the steps, they are the last thing that you need to be thinking about. The most important thing, that she said one must do while dancing is to enjoy it thoroughly and have fun,” she said.

She also recalled an incident about an award function when she saw her mom rehearse after a long time. 

She revealed, “I still remember that she was just marking the steps in the hall at home instead of rehearsing. When I saw her on stage, I was surprised to see her performing so beautifully. This was nothing that I saw at home. She’d blown everyone away with that performance.”

For the unversed, Janhvi made her film debut with Dhadak in 2018 and followed it up with a role in Zoya Akhtar’s short film in the Netflix anthology Ghost Stories. She recently completed two films - Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Roohi Afzana which are already in the pipeline. Currently, she also has Dostana 2 and Karan Johar’s Takht along with Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor.
