Work has reportedly begun on the sequel to Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, following the film’s strong theatrical performance and audience response. The sci fi romantic comedy, backed by Maddock Films, is now being developed as part of a larger franchise plan. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the project has quietly moved into the development stage.

As per Pinkvilla, Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon are expected to return for the sequel, continuing their roles from the first instalment. Actor Janhvi Kapoor is also likely to join the cast in a significant role, though an official announcement is still awaited.

A source quoted stated, “The story will take off from where it ended,” indicating that the sequel will build directly on the narrative of the first film. While specific plot details have not been revealed, the next chapter is expected to expand the concept on a broader scale.

Another update suggests that the writing process is currently underway. The script is expected to be completed by August this year. If timelines remain on track, the makers are planning to begin filming in the first quarter of 2027. However, scheduling and production decisions may depend on how Cocktail 2 performs, as it could influence the studio’s priorities.

The first film’s success played a key role in shaping these plans. It earned over Rs 133 crore worldwide, with around Rs 85 crore coming from the domestic market. Its performance in urban centres and overseas territories helped the film recover costs and sustain a steady run in cinemas.

The project also reinforced Maddock Films’ approach of backing unconventional themes within mainstream cinema. With the sequel now in early stages, expectations are likely to build as more details emerge in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor is currently working on Farzi 2, directed by Raj & DK. He is expected to complete that schedule before moving on to the sequel, which remains one of the studio’s anticipated projects.
