It's shameful to put a price on a girl, says Jabariya jodi star Parineeti Chopra
She very clearly opined that a girl doesn't come with a price tag and there should be nothing like dowry in our system.

Jabariya Jodi star Parineeti Chopra is busy as a bee these days. Her movie is all set to hit the theaters and she is roving around every corner of the country for promotions. In a recent interaction with the media, Parineeti opened about the concept of dowry and seemed furious on it's very existence.
While she hates the idea altogether, she is even more flabbergasted that Indian families have started calling it a gift to make themselves to feel better about it. She said,"Everyone knows that dowry is illegal and immoral but they practice it. What makes me angry is that people have renamed it 'gift' so that it sounds good. Dowry simply means that you are putting a price on the girl and buying her."
"We call ourselves modern but then what are we doing? To look superior, we are asking the girls' families for money and luxurious things. It is the unfortunate scenario of our country,"she continued.
Her movie Jabariya jodi is based on the marriage practice of Pakadwa Vivah where in the groom is forced to marry a girl on gun point. Although done with the intentions to prevent the act of dowry, it's still an obscene act.
Regarding this too Parineeti said,"Although 'pakadwa vivah' is an anti-dowry practice, it is wrong. You cannot just kidnap someone and force them to get married. However, if there is no demand of dowry, there will be no 'pakdwa vivah'. I request people to stop putting a price on girl's life"
Very well said Parineeti. On the other hand, Parineeti is having a kitty full of movies. After jabariya jodi with Sidharth Malhotra, she will be seen in Saina Nehwal's biopic and the Hindi remake of 'The Girl On The Train'.
