It might look very glamorous from the outside, but acting is not an easy job. First the pressure of bringing another character to life in front of the camera, no matter what they are going through in real life, then a constant tussle between their reel and real self. Pallavi Pradhan, who plays the role of Saroj Chaudhary in Rajan Shahi's "Woh Toh Hai Albelaa", shared that it often overpowers their real self.

"The age group that we belong to, we either play the roles of saas or mothers. Sometimes it does take a toll when your character is opposite to what you are. There is a constant fight inside that if I was at that place, then what I  would have done. As an actor, I put myself also sometimes at that spot. Sometimes you have to see the background of the character, the back story, etc., and it affects your daily mood," she said, adding that Cheeru's death sequence was a challenging one to shoot for them.

"When we were doing Cheeru's death scene, those days were really difficult. Those days we were trying to change each other's moods because all of us have faced tragedies in our lives, especially in these two years of COVID and everyone was relating to it. Like, Shaheer (Sheikh) lost his father, and I lost my in-laws due to old age, so everyone was in that zone. But getting out of it and living a normal life is what life is," she said.

Asked if daily soaps thrive on tragedy, she spoke about her show and said, "'Woh Toh Hai Albelaa' is the story of inter-relations of family and when it comes to family the relations are sometimes full of happiness, love, and affection, and sometimes bad, difficult times, and hatred, etc. So if the logic behind the anger and frustration is right then it's not difficult for an actor to act with their heart."

"We all are professionals and after a point, it becomes easy to cry or to get angry on-screen. As an actor, sometimes I feel in my personal life that whether I am like this or I am acting. There is a thin line between reality and the work we are doing, but after working for so many years it becomes a habit," Pallavi concluded.

i read an article on buzzfeed today about tired b-wood tropes. one of them was alluding to a psychological ilness but never identifying it. saroj isnt ur typical saas. she needs help. throwing knives, threatening, breaking things...sorry but that is not normal behaviour. itv needs to stop being so lazy. do the research, tell us what these characters have. banni chow home delivery is another show doing the same thing.
