Read the conversation here.

Your journey as an actor has been one that is magnificent, to say the least. How do you look at it when you see the way things have come together?

The journey has been amazing so far. Everyone’s life has ups and downs and I would say I am no different from them. I am proud that whatever I am right now is because of this journey and I like myself as a human being and it has become all possible because of this.

There has been this beautiful shift in the content that we see, how do you perceive it?

The shift in the content that I have seen is unbelievable, especially when it comes to the web. If we talk about it, there is more creativity and it is definitely going to be very useful for creative people when it comes to actors, writers, directors, and being a part of this shift. It’s a great shift and I would say we need more shifts like this.

Tell us about both your upcoming projects - the Punjabi film as well as movie with Vidya Balan.

Punjabi film has been a great experience for me man new place; new space, new people and it was amazing. The film Jalsa has also been amazing and yes working with Vidya Balan was amazing. She is professional and very easy to work with and I really loved it. Also, I have to specially mention Suresh Triveni, the director of the film Jalsa he has been amazing throughout the film. I can surely say that the role is kickass and the film is amazing with some really power-packed performers. Everybody, right from the Director, Producer to the DoP is extremely talented. I had a great time working with all of them. The makers have roped in an eclectic cast. For me, it is always the story that is most important, and the compelling storyline of Jalsa made me go ahead. It is a powerful, unique, and edgy tale of mighty characters and trying circumstances. I can't talk about the story in detail, but all I can say is that Suresh Triveni is too good to say no to. Although my role is kickass, even if he had asked me to play a lamppost, I would.

Over the years, how would you say has your craft evolved?

It will not be wrong if I say practice makes man perfect and I have been there in the industry for 20 years so I would say the audience will be better to judge whether I have evolved or not but I believe that I definitely have.

Lastly, what is the kind of work that you still await reaches you, something on your bucket list?

Firstly, I am not fastidious for any role or any character because as an actor, you need to know all kind of roles, all kind of characters which are different from what you are and different from what you have already done so that’s how I approach different scripts and that’s what I believe in. In addition to it, I would say I believe in hard work and honest work and I believe that somehow, it connects the audience very well and it works like magic. Lastly, I would say the audience might know what you have gone through creating that but there is magic in it so that is the magic that I always look forward to.
