New Delhi, Dec 11 (IANS) Moving on from Diwali and Holi, Indians are now opting to travel abroad to experience Christmas on the cobbled roads with snowflakes and decorated trees, according to a survey.

The global Christmas survey, conducted by online accommodation booking website Hotels.com in 28 countries with over 8,700 respondents, states that 66.7 per cent Indian travellers want to experience a traditional White Christmas, a statement said.

If the usual eight-hour office grind and menial daily routine stops them from taking a long vacation, 75 per cent from the surveyed population, would escape for a short getaway for the festival.

Since Christmas is celebrated on a muted scale in a country like India, 46 per cent of Indian travellers and 32 per cent of APAC (Asia Pacific) travellers would travel for the reason of experiencing Christmas elsewhere, while 62 per cent of Indian travellers will pick a hotel that offers a traditional experience for the fest.

The results highlight an evolving trend where Indians want to experience the culture and traditions of different places across the globe.
