Imtiaz Ali on Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor: No one more similar

Director Imtiaz Ali revealed ahead of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor's wedding that the couple is very similar because they are 'aligned in thought.' In a new interview, he stated that the couple had an 'affinity' even before they became friends. Imtiaz Ali, meanwhile, expressed his joy that they are now together but added that he would not discuss further on their rumoured wedding. 

Alia and Ranbir Kapoor's pre-wedding festivities have begun already with a mehendi ceremony followed by a sangeet ceremony on Thursday. The wedding, according to reports, will take place on April 15. 

Among the actors he has worked with, no one is more similar than Ranbir and Alia, Imtiaz Ali told the Times of India. To be alike as actors, you must also be alike as individuals. You need your thoughts to be in sync, which these two are, he added. Even before Ranbir and Alia became friends, Imitiaz said that he sensed an affinity between them due to their striking similarities.

He had the privilege of working with Alia in Highway and Ranbir in Rockstar and Tamasha, and said that he can confidently state that there are no other actors like these two, and he’s overjoyed and delighted that Ranbir and Alia are together. 

Alia and Ranbir met on the set of Ayan Mukerji's forthcoming film Brahmastra. The two made their public debut as a couple in 2018 at Sonam Kapoor's wedding reception. 

Meanwhile, SonyLIV will soon premiere Imtiaz's show Dr. Arora. Sajid Ali and Archit Kumar direct the show, which is billed as a dramedy. The film Dr. Arora stars Kumud Mishra, Gaurav Parajuli, Vivek Mushran, Ajitesh Gupta, Vidya Malvade, Sandeepa Dhar, and Shekhar Suman. 

On the other hand, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will next appear in Brahmastra which will hit the theatres in September 2022.
