This month's Illuminated Artiste dwells among those melodious female singers whose voice, once heard, cannot be erased from your memories easily. Her career has been on the span for almost three successful decades, managing to win over a million hearts along the way by lending her vocal to several tremendous songs. BollyCurry hereby presents to you the pride of Bollywood's music industry, Alka Yagnik.
 
Although her passion for singing had her venture into the music field ever since she was eight years old, Yagnik's first noted break in Bollywood took place with "Ek Do Teen" from the movie Tezaab (1988), earning her the first ever award for Best Playback Singer (Female). It was only then that she received some well deserved and due recognition from everyone and her journey in the Bollywood music industry took a prominent start without looking back at all.
 
Apart from Asha Bhosle, Yagnik too holds a record of bagging seven Filmfare awards in a row as the Best Playback Singer (Female). Despite making a ground for herself in Bollywood, she has never restricted herself to it. The melodic voice has conferred her vocals to more than 20,000 songs approximately in various Indian languages. Yagnik is also not a celebrated artiste for the quantity of her songs, but the quality she possess as well, and this is self evident considering the enormous line of awards that she has won throughout her extensive career. Renowned track such as "Taal Se Taal Mila" from the movie Taal (1999) is yet another feather added to her cap of achievements after it was chosen to be among the 'Top 40 Bollywood Soundtracks of All Time' by the BBC.
