Vidya is definitely an A-lister and a superstar by her own merit, not as a showpiece like Kat or Kareena! Irfaan is less famous but a superb actor...so each can carry whole movies on their talented shoulders!

the indian audience has grown up over time.. not many people want to waste a good 1000 bucks on a film which has amazing starcast but nothing as far as storyline is concerned..its better to wait a month and watch an average-same old story served okayishly in a new bottle on tv!..movies like kahaani and paan singh tomar did not had a big starcast but had gripping storylines and amazing performances!..hoping for more such movies in future and less of movies like agent vinod!
PS-with big starcast I mean a lot of famous stars in single movie and do not imply Vidya is not an a-lister coz i will be a fool to say that for an actress who had two superhits recently and that too all on her shoulders!..hats off to Vidya !!

Trust you to get caught up with this Jauhar - but hallelujah to the conclusion...!

Vidya is, and was an A-lister. However, an "obvious" A-lister in Bollywood is not a term to define Vidya, never was - because that usually does refer to the kind of list Deegie below was mentioning. IMO, that's all the article was implying... jus' saying...!

yup i think vidya is one of the best actress bollywood has got after kajol madhuri rani... and if she is not an a lister then the above mentioned are also not a listers...lol...

Yeah, now reading between the lines is definitely turning into an 'art form' over here. Sigh!

@Deegie - thank you for that note. It's only occasional that we at BC have the pleasure of readers who can "read" between the lines =) The irony of readers defending an actress with a difference of subtlety - yet unable of deciphering similar subtle undertones! Sigh.

But thank you, again. Your comment did more than make up!

@ Deegie - IMHO, Vidya is already an A-lister, much before Kahani and TDP. Or were the movies Ishqya, Paa, and others made in a different universe. Maybe the problem here is that Vidya can actually act and most of the others on the List mentioned by you can't. If they are really the present -day A-listers, then I must say that the fate of the Indian film industry is indeed bleak.
