I was scared to wear a Saree on the first day: Ayushmann Khurrana

Ayushmann Khurrana has created a niche for himself in the past seven years that he has been working in Bollywood. Every movie that the actor has worked in, has always struck a chord with the audience.

From doing movies which handle delicate topics like sperm donation, caste discrimination, erectile dysfunction, to acting in movies like Andhadhun, Ayushmann has aced his each and every role like a pro.

The 34-year-old actor, who has hailed his street-play days for his knack of selecting movies with a social message, will be next seen in Dream Girl.

A movie that follows the journey of a man who makes a living by playing not only female mythological characters like Radha and Sita in street-plays, but also impersonates a seductive female named Pooja who talks to the customers and makes them fall in love with his fictitious character while working in a call centre.

While remembering the days, when he was shooting for Dream Girl, Ayushmann opened up about various topics. When asked about his first reaction, the Badhaai ho actor was quoted by Mumbai Mirror saying, “I laughed out loud during the narration.”

Elaborating further, Ayushmann also added that Dream Girl has been the funniest script he had ever heard. He also specified that none of the mainstream actors in Bollywood has ever played such a role. 

He said, “None of the mainstream actors have played a role like this, but I love doing tricky stuff though I was scared to wear a saree on first day. It got easier as went along though I still don't know how to drape one. But eventually, it's all about how you internalise the character and get the body language right.”

The National Award Winner also shed some light on the character that he plays and says, "That’s a first even for me I have three to four different looks. The protagonist's ability to speak in both male and female voices is the film's core.”

The trailer of Dream Girl has everybody is smitten as Ayushmaan and his Dream Girl Pooja avatar leads to a series of unusual, crazy situations. Set against the backdrop of Mathura. 

Dream Girl stars Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Bannerjee, Manjot Singh, Nidhi Bisht, Rajesh Sharma, Raj Bhansali, Nushrat Bharucha and Annu Kapoor. 

It is produced by Shobhaa Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, and directed by the first-time director Raaj Shaandilyaa.
