I don't see actors in my kids: Jyoti Gauba

What did you dream of becoming prior to getting into acting?

I am from Mumbai and have been brought up in a middle class environment. My parents were very conservative but at the same time they have made me independent as well. During my school and college days I was a good student and also started earning money as I used to give tuition. I completed my BSC and there was a time when I wanted to become an air hostess because I wanted to travel to many places. But that dream of mine remained unfilled. I have also been into teaching for a brief period time in a very reputed school in Mumbai after which I got married. 

How did acting happen to you?

After my delivery when I was taking care of my kids I realized I can try getting my two boys cast in commercials for baby products. That point of time I used to stay at Vapi and would come with my kids to the studios for their auditions. I also met many models and at the same time I was trying to get back into shape. During these auditions people started telling me that I would look good in commercials. Initially, I used to take that as a compliment but later I took it seriously and started giving auditions and luckily got selected. That is how the journey started and till date I have done four hundred commercials. Commercials gave me satisfaction, money and visibility too. After a certain point of time I also wanted to do something more challenging and new like every person who feels that after some time. My first show was Rajan Shahi's Swarg where I played the mother of boys. 

Tell us about the relationship you share with your twin sons? 

Absolutely magical I would say. They are fifteen years old and in their teens. Both the boys are very close to each other. Sometime they do not share things with me but that is alright. I can understand that boys do not share everything with their mother. I give them independence and they respect that. 

Do your boys watch you on screen? What do they want to do in future?

Honestly speaking – No. They don't see my shows. Both of my boys are good in academics and I also encourage them in that. They are at a very crucial stage of their education and I will support whatever they want to do in their career. I don't see actors in them. 

How is your off-screen relationship with Amita (Chandni Bhagwanani)?

I am a mother of two boys so I always missed a girl in the family and with this show that desire will get fulfilled. Chandni is an adorable girl and we are very fond of each other. Even off camera she calls me mamma. In a daily routine when you are working for long hours this kind of relationship can add a lot of warmth to the show.

How have you managed to keep yourself fit? You don't look like a mother of two teenagers? 

I have always been doing my household work, though I have a maid for certain jobs but apart from that I prefer doing all my work myself. It gives me satisfaction as a mother and also keeps me fit. I don't have the time to go to gym but yes whenever I get some time I go for long walks. I don't stress myself to look fit. I have seen many models in the ad world who put in a lot of effort to stay toned, however for me the natural way is what matters. Even though I lost weight, I never lost the charm on my face. People praise me for my smile and I take that as a compliment. 

Other day one of the crew members told me that even when he sees me at midnight, he finds me in absolute peace and the smile is what he thinks is responsible for that.
