“I am playing the main villain in Brahmastra,” reveals Mouni Roy

Brahmastra has been the talk of the town ever since, director Ayan Mukherji announced his dream project alongside actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Even after Ranbir and Alia’s reel-life romance slipped into real-life, what caught the attention of the audience is the spectacular star-cast. Veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan, Dimple Kapadia, and southern superstar Nagarjuna also play key-roles in the movie.

Mouni Roy, who made her Bollywood debut with Akshay Kumar in Gold, is all set to play the role of an antagonist in the much-awaited movie. In a recent interaction with The Times of India, Mouni talked about her character. She said, “I am playing the main villain in the film. I am really looking forward to it. What is more liberating for me is playing different characters that challenge me. I was surprised initially that they wanted me to play the villain.” 

"Ayan Mukerji had seen something from Naagin and felt I could play the villain. So you never know what clicks with whom. As an actor, you should be willing to experiment and be versatile otherwise you can't learn and grow," She added.

Recently, Mouni Roy had taken to her official social media handle, and shared a few pictures with Ayan Mukherji. She wrote, ““Your mind s so open your brains ll fall out”~ One nerd to another! #Favorite @ayan_mukerji”

Mouni also talked about her experience of working and sharing a screen-space with Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. She said,

I can die happily after working with Amitabh ji. I was like a puppy on the sets who didn’t know what to say or do. Ranbir and Alia are darlings… Such big stars but when you know your craft you can be genuine and humble. When I came in to shoot I was nervous but like our director Ayan (Mukerji) says, ‘It’s about creating art’ and they made me really comfortable.

Brahmastra is the first installment in a three-part fantasy drama franchise which is being produced by Dharma Productions and also backed by Fox Star Studios. It is releasing in summer 2020.
