'I am glad to have got this opportunity' - Rooprekha

The bong beauty, Rooprekha Banerjee is back on television after a hiatus. Rooprekha won the reality show, Fame Gurukul on Sony and now the singing sensation is back on yet another reality show, this time Star Plus' Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar that starts on April 11th. Telly Buzz caught up with her to know more.

Winning Fame Gurukul and now back again on a reality show, how does it feel? Rooprekha says, “Winning Fame Gurukul was a very emotional moment for me. At that point of time it was quite difficult as we were new to the industry and it was a completely different experience. But then once you become a part of the industry you learn to deal with all that. And coming back on Superstar feels great.” Adding further she says, “Like I said the concept is unique. I am very happy to be on the show. The challengers are quite a tough challenge and all are good singers. I am very glad God has given me this opportunity to sing with such good singers.”

Rooprekha avers that all the singers are good performers as she says, “I have performed with most of these singers for stage shows. I share a great rapport with all of them.” So if Rooprekha is so sure of them being good singers, how come sparks were flying on the sets between her and Sumitra when the singers shot for the first episode, we asked? Rooprekha claims, “It was nothing like that. For me, the competition lies within oneself. And there was no such controversy. The champions were asked to voice their opinions on the challengers performances and vice versa. That’s all I did when I commented about Sumitra’s performance. There is no controversy regarding that.”
