I always strive to give opportunities to new comers: Casting Director Sonu Singh Solanki

Success of any TV movie, TV show or web-series is often credited to the cast or the producers of the project. We, as an audience often forget to appreciate one of the most important departments which is casting. The field of casting directors has evolved with time wherein many successful casting directors have carved a niche in the industry with their impressive line of work.

One such Casting Director is Sonu Singh Solanki. Solanki is known to cast new comers in the shows that he handles. In a candid chat with India Forums, Solanki opened up on his journey in the field and stated that being a Casting Director was not his goal but he got a nack of it and decided to take it up.

He said, “Well, Casting Direction is not what I always wanted to. Initially, I wanted to make a career as a Director but things didn’t materialise well as I wasn’t able to get good opportunities and in the meantime, I met one of the casting directors and started to assist him. That’s how it all began”.

Sonu’s latest work was for Azaad TV show ‘Lovepantii’ wherein he casted for the new lead couple of the show. He said, “Casting for Lovepantii was challenging. The pandemic and the outdoor shoot schedule posed as major obstacles but I’m happy that I pulled it off”.

He further added, “As a Casting Director, I strive to give chances and opportunities to new comers. If I see the drive, passion and ability to work hard in a new comer, I do consider him even for lead roles. The lead hero and heroine in ‘Lovepantii’ are both talented new comers”.
