"Hrithik underwent Brain Surgery and Sunaina had Cancer," says Rakesh Roshan; Shares Heart Wrenching details of the Roshan's Health Battles

The Roshan family has gone through some of the toughest times ever. With filmmaker Rakesh Roshan’s battle against cancer to his daughter, Sunaina’s shocking claims against her family and recently, the unfortunate demise of Hrithik’s grandfather J Om Prakash, the Roshans faced utmost agony. 

Hrithik’s father Rakesh Roshan was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the throat, which was at an early stage. In an interview with SpotboyE, the filmmaker opened up about his battle against Cancer and revealed some heartbreaking details about his journey, right from suffering to overcoming the deadly disease.

The Krrish director says that it all started with a small blister, and says that one day while he was visiting a friend in Hinduja hospital, he met an ENT surgeon, who advised him biopsy. “I don't know why but I had a gut right from the beginning that I have contracted cancer,” says Roshan.

After he was tested positive in biopsy on Dec 15, 2018, the doctors advised him for an MRI and CT scan. “I got a bit scared when I was told that my tongue may have to undergo a cut and do some grafting. I said 'I don't want to do all this', says Rakesh. 

The filmmaker also reveals that he had partied with his friends on December 31 and none of them knew about his Cancer. 

Next, Rakesh Roshan underwent surgery on January 8, and 3 weeks later his chemotherapy sessions began at Kokilaben Hospital, which used to take about 4-5 hours.

“The surgery was conducted at H N Reliance Foundation Hospital (earlier, Harkisandas). They gave me a Cisplatin. Normally Cisplatin is given 40 but I was given 100. Even my radiations were increased from 60 to 67. Doctors told me that I have a lot of will power.

"Well, I have had my share of hardships, In fact, we all in my family have undergone health issues. My wife was unwell in between. My father-in-law was indisposed. Sunaina had cancer, Hrithik underwent brain surgery,” states Roshan.

But now that the filmmaker is fit and fine, he reveals that he has started gym 90 minutes every day. “My personal trainer comes home, my stamina is back- but yes,  it will take me another 6 months to be fully fit.”
