How Indian Television shows are promoting superstitions!

The television industry is home to some exceptional writers. But now these writers are shifting towards creativity in a rather odd way. A number of shows have started filming unrealistic tracks and superstitions. Here are some examples of the superstitions and other fictional tracks that some of the Indian television shows are broadcasting.
1. Diya extinguishing!
There are various reasons why a diya may extinguish. For example, the cotton used for it may be faulty, the window might be open on a windy day or maybe the lamp just ran out of oil! How does this indicate forthcoming bad luck? And people actually believe this!
2. Black cat crossing the path.
Once there was a black cat walking casually and suddenly she saw a human looked at her and turn back. Imagine how bad the cat would have felt. I have a friend who owns a black cat and he recently won a big lottery! So much for bad luck!
3. Snake people a.k.a. Naagins!
It is believed in many parts of the world that snake people actually existed at some point of time. Most of these are folk tales and fictional stories. Now a days, these naagins have become a tool for getting higher TRPs! People actually believe that these snake people exist.
4. Ghosts/Monsters and other entities.
These writers need to understand that the current set of television viewers are not the same set of viewers from 10 years back. This is the internet age. We know what is possible and what is not possible. To believe or not to believe in ghosts depends on person to person. Even if they do exist they don't play with your electrical equipment!
5. Miscellaneous superstitions.
Television shows have shown a number of superstitions such as breaking of glass, Turmeric falling, Puja Plate dropping and what not! And it is believed by many that all such events are signs of bad luck. There is no evidence for these! And I have never heard foreigners reacting to these events. In fact they get happy when glass breaks!
The urban people of India have the sense to differentiate between real and reel things and take these things casually. But the main problem arises in the rural areas. There are still a large number of people in the world that believe Television speaks the truth and are often influenced by the shows on TV. Why aren't these shows promoting useful thing such as self defence for women or maybe family counselling!

I AGREE COMPLETELY. TRS PRESSURE A CURSE TO THE PLOTS. MAKERS BEND AND TWIST THE SHOWS SO MUCH NOT REALIZING HOW AUDIENCE MIGHT BE AFFECTED

i agree fully with the article. But i also feel makers have too much trp pressure..its not easy for them to start a new show if the old one dies due to low trps ...this forces them to show and experiment crap on audiences and if trps come out fair ..makers dont even give a second thought to stop it ...infact they continue till they cross all limits T. V. has become a wide source of entertainment and audiences get very much affected with the content that is shown ...THAT IS WHY WE GET ATTACHED TO SHOWS AND ACTORS. Hence the creatives and channel shud keep that in mind and work towards making tv an entertainment source in true sense and not just for namesake plus serials shud not be allowed to run endlessly their shud be a fixed content and time period and only after fiscussing and preplanning every show with related channels they shud be allowed on air...else makers twist the show and turn it into a crap...and sadly this increases trp in most cases The most irritating part is obvio the supernatural part in any show and also how they show abuses towards females in some shows seriously producers and channel ppl shud bow thseir heads down in shame at what they are showing to the audience

Hats off to the writer of this article! As someone said below, the truth is bitter! And we cannot turn away from it! The fact that shows like QH n SSK (cant believe QH has reached the rank of SSK now) stretch with no rhyme nor reason displaying extreme negativity, superstitions and extra powerful vamps, is so sad. Indian TV can do so much better and make much more sensible shows! If they focus on content, story and the talent of the actors as opposed to just trp and length of the serial. These things were okay a decade back but now seem really silly! At a time when intelligent films are being made, TV should not be behind! Entertainment can be positive! Also this is not the only article mocking these shows! And they are given as examples for a reason. Its high time the CVs/PH notice how foolish they look! Loving and supporting a show is one thing, but not allowing others to give their opinions, is simply a sign of blind love and denial! Anyway thanks for this much needed article.

People who state facts are not "haters", they are realists. To know if QH 4 rocks we have to wait. 1 week is hardly long enough for that. After killing leads 2 times over and making vamps win two times on this show, and not giving positive ending to any of the main pairings of QH, one can hardly pretend the show has done justice to their story! So before I get excited about QH4, I will see where the story is going! It was advertised as the Rebirth of Sanam by the Channel. They also said that Azaad is a person with supernatural powers. So people are not making these things up. The article writers are quoting what they know of the show. Not something they made up! Mahaira's sisters are negative and so are Khala and Latiff. So even now the show has too many negative characters posing as jokers.

lol rit now qh is doing well and is having only positivity.. no vamps seen.. even chudail who was last seen in qh3 has lost all her powers..so now its fresh season.. without knowing anything of this new season how can u make such a crap post... silly silly u.. qh4 rocks baki haters shocks

I don't watch any of the shows mentioned accept QH, and I have to agree that they have been showing a lot of superstitious things. It's becoming too far fetched now with Vampire story. The show used to have a good story in season 1 and even season 2. But then to drag they made it illogical and too much negativity was there always. Vamps always get too much footage and outlast the leads! No matter how much we love actors we can't pretend the show is not illogical and always just praise it! But as long as people mindlessly watch,these shows will continue. No matter how much they insult intelligence or decency in these shows. Maybe these shows are making these lists because the creatives of the shows keep testing the audience patience. So instead of blaming the article writers, people should blame the show writers! Loyalty is good. But that does not mean we refuse to accept reality. The above mentioned shows deserve to be in this list! They have earned a spot. Blind love is never a good thing!

Honestly Zee TV and Colors needs a strict warning for showing such crap and all their long-running shows should be shut down! I'm unable to get what SSK shows that people still watch it !
