How househelp takes care of Mohit Malhotra like his mother

Actor Mohit Malhotra hails from Delhi but not only does he stay in Mumbai because of his work but also is he currently stuck in Mumbai owing to the lockdown rules - thus not being able to go to his hometown to his mother.

But staying here all alone and not being able to visit friends too owing to the aforementioned lockdown rules,  he has had his househelp Bharti taking care of him for almost seven years.

Talking about it with ETimes TV, Malhotra said, “Bharti is someone who has selflessly cared for me all these years. In the last one year, my respect for her has grown manifold as she is the one who has been taking care of me like a member of her own family. Even on days she is not able to come, she constantly checks on me, and makes it a point to talk to me every day on the phone. Even if it is small things like asking me ‘Sab theek hai? Aaj khaane mein kya khaya?’, it means a lot.”

He added, “Though I have friends to talk to and my mother and other family members keep calling me, I know Bharti is someone I can totally trust here (in Mumbai).” He says that apart from making a note of things like what he likes to eat and how to make them, Bharti also notices small things that he might need at home and gets them. “She is managing my home without me realising so many things. There are some things she didn’t know how to cook, but she learnt the recipe from the internet or would call my mother to ask how it should be done."

He mentioned how it is amazing that in stressful times like these, he is grateful that he has someone like her around him. “Over the years, she has become like family to me and I try to do my best for her and her family. At a time when we can’t visit friends and family, Bharti has been a family member I really look forward to meeting and talking to. She has been like my constant support system and I think just saying that ‘I would like to thank her’ would be a very small thing. There are also things that I have learnt from her, the most important being how to do our best to help others in times of need. Like Bharti, I respect everyone out there who is trying to do their bit to take care of not just their own families, but also others around them,” he concluded.
