Housefull’s Aakhri Pasta was Sajid Khan’s alter ego: Chunky Panday

Bollywood actor Chunky Panday has been working in the industry for more than three decades now. The actor, who is known for his comedic roles, has given the audience an iconic character to remember, and it is none other than Housefull’s Aakhri Pasta. The character’s famous punch-line ‘I’m Joking’ is still famous. 

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the 56-year-old actor opened up about how he bagged the role and it became a huge success. He also talked about who inspired Aakhri Pasta and how the character is related to director Sajid Khan. He revealed,

The secret behind Aakhri Pasta was that in Housefull 1, Sajid Khan was to do this role himself. Everyone told him, ‘Sajid you have to do this role’, and then he met me at this party and said to me, ‘Chunky I have got this role, people want me to do it in the film, I can’t direct and act, will you do it?’ I said of course. And that is how Aakhri Pasta was born. The name came from Akhree Raasta (1986), Amitji’s (Amitabh Bachchan) film, and the character of Marconi from the film The Great Gambler that was played by Sujit Kumarji, so we took him as an inspiration, his clothes, that moustache, and created Aakhri Pasta. Somewhere, Aakhri Pasta was Sajid Khan’s alter ego. What Sajid couldn’t do in real life, he would make Aakhri Pasta do on screen.

Chunky's daughter Ananya Panday, who made her Bollywood debut with Student of the Year 2, will be seen in Pati Patni Aur Woh, opposite Kartik Aaryan and Bhumi Pednekar, and Khaali Peeli, opposite Ishaan Khatter. 

The 20-year-old actress was recently quoted saying ‘that she tries to behave like a normal teenager.' When asked about his younger days and Chunky had told Mumbai Mirror, "I was wild; my daughter is nothing compared to me. I had a lot of wrong pressures on me. Being the son of two doctors, I was expected to become one too."
