Singer and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh's wife Shalini Talwar has gone ahead to file a case under the Section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act seeking protection and other reliefs. On August 3, the Tis Hazari Court passed an interim order in favour of Shalini Talwar, restraining Honey Singh from disposing off his jointly owned property, his wife's stridhan, etc.

Talwar, in her complaint against husband, Honey Singh aka Hirdesh Singh, her mother-in-law Bhupinder Kaur, and her father-in-law Sarabjit Singh, has claimed she was driven out of the singer's home. Sources say that she was thrown out of her house in March, and again in June, when she returned to collect some of her belongings.

Advocate Sandeep Kaur, who appeared on behalf of Talwar said that she has been subjected to numerous incidents of physical, verbal, mental and emotional abuse at the hands of her husband and his family members.

In her application, she has said that around the time of their marriage, his career started to take off and he was popularly getting to be known as 'Yo Yo Honey Singh', and with an increased fan following, his attitude changed towards her, and he became 'rude, brash, aggressive, contemptuous and disrespectful'. In her 120-page application, she has listed specific details about his abusive behaviour from their honeymoon in Mauritius, to his affairs, physical abuse and how he lied in public about their wedding.

In her application, she has mentioned that in 2011, when somebody who was present at their wedding circulated their wedding pic, Honey Singh panicked and mercilessly beat her, accusing her of releasing their wedding pics as he wanted to hide their wedding for his stardom. His digital media team portrayed it as a movie still, and not a real wedding photo.

Back in 2013, in an interview, Honey Singh was quoted as saying, "I may have a lot of girlfriends, but I am not at all married. Those wedding pictures on the net are not true, they are from a shoot that I had done.”
