Haseen Dillruba features Vikrant Massey, Taapsee Pannu, Harshvardhan Rane, Aditya Srivastava in key roles. The movie narrates the story of how Risbhabh (Vikrant) falls in love with Rani (Taapsee) and is adamant about getting married to her. However, things seem to get complicated after marriage as they both are complete opposites, and they only seem to be growing apart. We also see the knok-jhok between a daughter-in-law and mother-in-law i.e Rani and Lata (Yamini Das), respectively.

While everything goes on per usual, it is during the second half of the movie, that we feel like it stops making sense. While there's a growing distance between Rani and Rishu, enter Neel (Harshvardhan), and we see how the former eventually, falls in love with him and thus, begins her transformation from turning into a docile female after being the independent modern-day woman that we see her as all this while.

As has been seen in the trailer, the sudden death of Rishabh, leads to all fingers pointing at Rani as the suspect. Aditya Srivastava's Kishore Rawat steps in as the investigating officer, and it is a treat to watch him, as usual. How it all ends, is what continues to be the talking point, but not for all the right reasons.

Performances

There's absolutely nothing that Vikrant is not capable of doing and he has gone onto prove that yet again. He has managed to make himself one of the highlights of the movie, and rightly so. Taapsee as Rani is also a delight to watch as usual. The actress has indeed set a niche for herself and that seems to do just fine for her. Harshvardhan and Aditya are both in their elements and manage to own the screen for as long as they are present as well. The supporting cast including Yamini, Alka Kaushal, among others, do a fair job at doing what they are asked to do.

The Good

Haseen Dillruba

The visuals are good and the background score along with the entire setting of the film go well together. You like what you are seeing for almost the entire time, but the credits for that go to the performances. You like almost everything about the movie, yet, it doesn't work quite in the team's favour.

The Bad

The writing and narration make the second half of the film extremely haywire. While you enjoy until the point when things are dramatic but subtle, you stop enjoying the story ahead and even the actors fail to save that sinking ship. There's nothing outright wrong with the movie, but you just don't like how it progresses.

Verdict

If you are looking for a quality film with a strong concept and a successful thriller, this may not be the right pick. However, you can try it for the love of Vikrant and Taapsee, if nothing else.
