Happy Birthday SRK: From DDLJ to ADHM, Iconic dialogues by the Badshah of Bollywood

"Rahul, naam toh sunna hoga?" Our beloved Shah Rukh Khan celebrates his birthday today, and to make the day extra special, we have listed down some of the most iconic and popular dialogues from some of his blockbuster films, that will surely take you down the memory lane. Have a look:

King Khan, The Badshah of Bollywood and the Baazigar, Shah Rukh Khan celebrates his birthday today. He is undeniably one of the most loved actors on screen as well as the most celebrated personality off-screen. The superstar made his debut, his entry in the movies in 1992 and has continued to win hearts over and over again. 

SRK's kindness, wit, and determination needs no introduction as the man himself is an epitome of turning dreams into reality.  He enjoys a massive, dedicated fandom and has always expressed his gratitude towards them. For years Shah Rukh Khan has bestowed us with some memorable movies and even more iconic dialogues. 

From DDLJ to ADHM, we take you through some of the most scintillating dialogues by the Badshah of Bollywood:

Baazigar (1993)

A 1993 Indian crime thriller film directed by Abbas–Mustan starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles, is a contemporary thriller about a young man who stops at nothing to get what he wants. And, this epic dialogue from the film sets the whole mood of the film and is a highly popular one even today:

“Kabhi kabhi jeetne ke liye kuch haarna padta hai ... Aur haar kar jeetne wale ko baazigar kete hai”.

Darr (1993)

This thriller drama, one of its kind showcasing the story of love and obsession featured Sunny Deol, Juhi Chawla as the lead pair. Shah Rukh Khan played the antagonist, a psycho lover who will scare you on screen. And also gave us the most simple but the most iconic dialogue that carries an SRK trademark:

“I love you KKKKK ...... Kiran.”

Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995)

While this film needs no introduction, it proved to be Shah Rukh Khan’s breakthrough with its mega success on the box office. Close to 25 years, the film continues to run in theatres even today and cherish over the love story of Raj and Simran in the film. The film gifted us with one of the most popular lines:

“Bade bade deshon mein aaisi choti choti baatein ... hoti rehti hai, Senorita.”

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)

This 1998 Karan Johar’s film is hands down every Bollywood fanatic’s favourite. This romantic drama starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerjee is a beautiful tale of friendship and love, and this film has provided us with some of the most famous dialogues, that are loved even today.

“Pyar dosti hai ... agar woh meri sab se achchi dost nahin ban sakti, to main usse kabhi pyar kar hi nahi sakta ... kyun ki dosti bina toh pyar hota hi nahin ... simple, pyar dosti hai”

-The one for Love

“Hum ek baar jeete hai, ek baar marte hai, shaadi bhi ek baar hoti hai ... aur pyar ek baar hi hota hai”

Mohabbatein (2000)

Firsts of those times, this 2000 musical romantic drama by Aditya Chopra has a different fanbase of teenagers juggling their way through career and love. Right from the entire Gurukul situation to Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s eternal love story, the film is nearly perfect.

“Duniya mein kitni hai nafratein ... phir bhi dilon mein hai chahatein ... marr bhi jaaye pyar waale ... mitt bhi jaaye yaar waale ... zinda rehti unki Mohabbatein.”

Devdas (2002)

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Devdas continues to be one of the most finely made films adored with impeccable performances by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Madhuri Dixit. Khan plays a hopeless lover turned alcoholic in the film and will convince you to feel his pain and sorrow with his impressive acting. This romantic drama film was full of intense dialogues, so it will be difficult to choose one:

“Har dukh aane waale sukh ki chitti hoti hai ... aur har nuksaan hone waale fayde ka ishara.”

“Kaun kambakht bardaasht karne ko peeta hai…”

Kal Ho Na Ho (2003)

The film, close to every Bollywood fanatic’s heart, Kal Ho Na Ho, starred Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan in lead roles. The heartbreaking twists and turns in the way of love will make you smile and cry throughout the film, and this evergreen and ever-popular dialogue by King Khan is just like a fresh breeze on a dull day.

“Aaj ... aaj ek hasi aur baant lo ... aaj ek dua aur maang lo ... aaj ek ansoon aur pee lo ... aaj ek zindagi aur jee lo ... aaj ek sapna aur dekh lo ... aaj ... kya pata, kal ho naa ho.”

Om Shanti Om (2007)

The 2007 fantasy romantic melodrama film directed and co-written by Farah Khan, which marked the debut of Deepika Padukone alongside Shah Rukh Khan is yet again a crowd favourite. The film had the perfect balance of drama and storytelling, revolving around reincarnation, mystery and unconditional love.  

-This particular dialogue from the film gave the most appropriate sense of hope to every dreamer and his dreams:

“Kehte hain ki ...... Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho to puri kayanat usey tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai.”

Chak De India (2007)

Shah Rukh Khan as coach Kabir Khan in this 2007 sports film impressed many with his words and looks both! The film showered support to women’s participation in sports and their dreams. Its a beautiful story of how a coach goes against all odds to make his all girls team emerge victoriously. And, this very powerful monologue from the film, said by Khan in the film with the most perfect determination will surely motivate you:

“Sattar minute, sattar minute hai tumhare paas ... shayad tumhari zindagi ke sabse khaas sattar minute ... aaj tum achcha khelo ya bura, yeh sattar minute tumhe zindagi bhar yaad rahenge ... toh kaise khelna hai aaj main tumhe nahi bataonga ... bas itna kahoonga ke jao aur yeh sattar minute jee bharkar khel lo ... kyun ki iske baad aane waali zindagi mein, chahe kuch sahi ho ya na ho, chahe kuch rahe ya na rahe, tum haaro ya jeeto ... lekin yeh sattar minute tumse koi nahi cheen sakta, koi nahi ... toh maine socha ki is match mein kaise khelna hai aaj main tumhe nahi bataonga, balki tum mujhe bataoge khel kar ... kyun ki main jaanta hoon ki agar yeh sattar minute is team ka har player apni zindagi ki sabse badiya hockey khel gaya ... toh yeh sattar minute khuda bhi tumse vapas nahi maang sakta ... toh jao, jao aur apne aap se, is zindagi se, apne khuda se aur har us insaan se jisne tumhe tum par bharosa nahi kiya apne sattar minute cheen lo.”

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil ( 2016)

Well, this film may only see Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo role, but leaves us with one of the most powerful and impactful dialogues stating the power and pain of one-sided love in the film. This exact scene and moment where Khan says these words, any and every person will feel a tingle in their body and will create a whole vibe with just a line said with utmost intensity by SRK.

“Ek tarfa pyar ki taqat hi kuch aur hoti hai ... auron ke rishton ki tarah yeh do logon mein nahi bat'ti ... sirf mera haq hai ispe.”

“Agar baazi ishq ki baazi hai toh joh chahe laga lo ... dar kaisa ... agar jeet gaye toh kya kehna ... agar haare bhi toh baazi maat nahi.”
