The recent outbreak of #BoycottFilmfareAwards has caught a lot of fire on Twitter. Not on the fans but several artists from the industry have called out Filmfare awards for their unfair nominations and bestowing the awards to the ‘underserved’ actors and films.
There have been a plethora of controversies that have been evolving the web-space and Zoya Akhtar's directorial Gully Boy is one of them. Netizens are clearly unimpressed with the fame it has seen which includes 21 nominations and 13 awards. The film was one of the few films which have made a record for most awards for a single film.
Several Twitteraties have called out Filmfare’s evaluation as biased and unfair. However, one of the users went to an extreme and added the tag of the ‘Paid Award’ on Filmfare Awards Wikipedia page near Gully Boy's two columns.
In the fight for best lyrics Kesri’s Teri Mitti song seemed to have an upper hand according to the Twitterati's, still, Gully Boy’s Apna Time Aayega managed to get an award for the same.
While Filmfare has been seeing the netizen’s wrath, Manoj Muntashir, who wrote the lyrics of Teri Mitti, was upset as his song did not win the Best Lyrics award and said that he will not attend award shows henceforth.
