Gautam Rode’s Tryst with Theatre

Gautam Rode is all set to take on a new challenge as we hear that the actor will be making his debut in theatre as a Kathak Dancer in an upcoming play called Aarohi.  The actor who is doing theatre for the first time reveals, "I had my hesitations before taking up this play.  When you are shooting in front of a camera you can take an extra take if you feel your shot wasn't as perfect as you wanted it to be.  But in theatre you have just one try and that has to be perfect.  And not only am I acting but I am also performing Kathak.  Since I have never had any formal dance training, learning a classical dance form like Kathak has been quite challenging for me.  However, I am really looking forward to performing in front of a live audience and I love the challenge that theatre is bringing with it for the actor and performer in me."  

Gautam has been learning Kathak for the last few months from Anita Ordia who herself was trained by Birju Maharaj.  The play also stars Dhani Jhankal, Ravi Jhankal, and Meeta Vashist and will be premiering in Mumbai later this month.
