Shows based on parenting issues

In a country like India where the population is touching the sky, Parenting becomes one of the most sensitive issues. It is important to inculcate the right values and sense of responsibility in a child. Be it working parents, non-working mothers, single parents, separated parents, raising a child in a proper environment and giving him/her the best, is the primary concern of every parent. However, there are many factors that comes as a challenge for parents as their child grows.

We have compiled a list of Television shows and web series that have highlighted various parenting issues.

Parrvarish

Sony TV’s popular show Parvarrish - Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi, featured Shweta Tiwari, Rupali Ganguly, Vivek Mushran and Vishal Singh in lead roles.The story revolved around two sisters and their day-to-day struggles in raising their kids. It focused mainly on the different ways of parenting both the families used.

After the success of season one, the show came up with a second season titled, Nayi Umar Nayi Chunauti - Parvarrish Agla Padav. In the new season, the children were grown up and new challenges came in simultaneously in their lives.

Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi

Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhaengi

The show aired on  NDTV Imagine and featured ace actress Supriya Pilgaonkar as Radhaa, who is mother to three daughters.The story centered around Radhaa and her daughters who move to a new city and how they cope up with the hurdles to have a good life.

Aam Aadmi Family is a web series by The Timeliners, which is TVF’s sister company. The series depicts the story of a middle class family including a gossip-lover grandmother, a hardworking father, a traditional and typical mother and two grown up kids. The series unfolds the problems of every middle-class family and how the kids deal with their middle-class stature.

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein

Star Plus’ parenting drama Yeh Hai Mohabbatein is loosely inspired from the novel Custody. The show follows the story of a Tamil dentist named Ishita, who is unfertile and gets emotionally attached to her neighbour, Raman Bhalla’s daughter. Raman is a businessman, who is separated from his wife and struggles to raise his daughter on his own. However, in order to take his daughter’s custody, he unwillingly marries his neighbour, Ishita and later, they end up falling in love for each other.

Mind The Malhotras

Mind the Malhotras

Mind The Malhotras is an Amazon Prime series based on Israeli comedy La Famiglia. The series is about a normal, modern and happy family or are they. However, Shefali (Mini Mathur) and Rishabh (Cyrus Sahukar) decide to take marriage counselling after watching many of their friends getting divorced. The couple takes up a therapy and share their day-to-day problems which involves parenting, coping up with their in-laws, neighbours and friends circle.

Family No 1

Last but not the least, Family No 1 was a popular show of its time. It was a comedy series which aired on Sony TV. The show presented the fun story of two different families, sharing a house. The show featured Kanwaljeet Singh and Tanvi Azmi as single parent, each having three kids, who constantly try to create troubles for the other family.

Can never forget Yhm beginning days... They were sweetest of all... IshRa's nokjhok and IshRu's cutest bond... Tere dil ka mere dil se rishta purana... Those days are unforgettable !!! Ekta ruined everything now. Parvarish was also a wonderful show.

Saw Family No. 1, Parvarish and Radha ki betiyan in my growing up days and I wonder why don't we have such shows anymore? Have so many memories attached ❤️
