Filmmaker Gautham Menon faces legal trouble

Chennai, Jan 12 (IANS) The Madras High Court has directed the central crime branch to register a case against filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon and four other associates of his production house Photon Kathas, if cognisable offence is disclosed upon investigation.

The court's order came Saturday.

Gautham produces films under Photon Kathas banner.

According to petitioner's counsel B. Ramesh Babu, Photon Kathas allegedly cheated R. Jayaraman of R.S. Infotainment, a film production company, of a large sum of money involving "Ek Deewana Tha", a remake of 2010 Tamil romantic-drama "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya" .

"Madras High Court bench chaired by Justice C.T. Selvam has directed the deputy commissioner of the central crime branch to register a case on the complaint of the petitioner. The police have been asked to conduct investigation in the case and if any cognisable offence was made out, it will be brought to the notice of both the parties," counsel Ramesh Babu told IANS.
