Excited for my first Gudi Padwa after marriage with Rahul: Disha Parmar

Gudi Padwa, also known as Samvatsar Padvo embarks the beginning of the Marathi new year and is a joyous occasion for all Maharashtrians celebrating the festival. And well, for everyone in Mumbai, it still is a special time to spend with family, send out good wishes, and indulge in celebrations. 

India Forums got in touch with actress Disha Parmar who is currently seen in Sony TV show ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2’. Disha belongs to a Punjabi, Sikh family while she is married to a Maharashtrian family. Talking about celebrating the festivities in a Maharshtrian tradition, Disha said, “I am a Sikh (Punjabi) but we have never indulged into a lot of festival celebrations. I’d only done basic Diwali and Holi. It is only after my marriage with Rahul that I am exposed to elaborated celebrations of festivals. Recently, we had a Sankranti celebration at home which was filled with love and blessings. Around 40 women were invited at our house and they blessed Rahul and me. I’m discovering a lot of new things and new traditions which I’ve not done before and I really like doing it, it’s fun. Whenever my mother-in-law asks me if I’d like to do certain traditional stuffs, I readily agree as it’s fun”.

She added, “This is my first Gudi Padwa after marriage and I’m looking forward to it. I was a part of their Gudi Padwa celebration last year and it was nice and sober celebration. It will be great to join my mother-in-law in this year’s Gudi Padwa celebration. There’s nothing elaborative that happens at home. Just a quiet celebration that my mother-in-law has been doing for a long time. It will be fun”.
