The Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) recently began in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, drawing a glamorous crowd of Hollywood and global stars. Now in its fourth year, this prestigious event kicked off with many notable figures, including Academy Award nominee Emily Blunt, who was honoured with the Red Sea Honoree Award for her exceptional contributions to international cinema.
Along with Emily, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Hollywood action legend Vin Diesel were also celebrated for their impactful work in film. Aamir Khan, introduced by actress Eva Longoria, shared his gratitude for being recognised at such a distinguished event. Eva, who has long admired Aamir’s work, spoke highly of his contributions to cinema, highlighting iconic films like Lagaan, 3 Idiots, and Dangal as milestones in his illustrious career.
Emily Blunt, deeply touched by the honour, expressed her emotions to the audience, saying, “Thank you so much for this. I am very, very moved, and it’s such a pleasure to be at this vibrant and incredibly dynamic film festival. It just makes you realize we have so many stories to tell. We are brimming with them.” The award was presented to Emily by Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh, who introduced the talented actress to the glittering crowd.
The event’s red carpet was a star-studded affair, with appearances from celebrities like Michelle Yeoh, Cynthia Erivo, Eva Longoria, and Michael Douglas. Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor also made her presence felt as she walked the red carpet for the opening ceremony, adding to the glamour of the evening.
The festival, which runs until December 14, is showcasing 122 films from 80 countries. It aims to amplify underrepresented voices and foster meaningful cross-cultural dialogue, celebrating diverse stories from around the globe.
