Eisha Chopra on Working with Sumeet & Pranay in Official Bhootiyagiri: We have similar acting sensibility!

Actress and writer Eisha Chopra got into a conversation with us where she spoke about her character in the series official Bhootiyagiri, working with Sumeet & Pranay, memories from the sets and much more.

Tell us something about your character in official Bhootiyagiri?

So mallika was a character that came in season 2 and she is Dilawar Rana’s ex wife. She is someone who loves him very much, she knows that he’s the love of her life. She has to only be with him, the problem is that she can’t be with him. She is a very strong minded woman and she is someone who accepts things. So she is kind of an independent minded, forward thinking women who says okay, if I can’t get what I want then that doesn’t stop me from getting something else. She is feisty, she got a short temper for sure, because she is very frustrated with him. So the character is very justified because yes she goes crazy but he drives her crazy. 

Official CEOgiri saw a different side of Mallika and Rana from Official Bhootiyagiri. So what do you think is the basic difference here?

The major difference is where we are in the story. What you saw in season 2 was a woman who is coming back into his life and she didn’t know where she stood. So she is looking for her security in that situation and that’s why she is constantly getting angry with him because he is such an unstable person himself that he is always making her unstable. Because she is not sure where she stands. By the time we get to Bhootiyagiri, she knows, for eg. in the end of season 2 we saw that he proposes to her for the second time. Now nobody is going to do that, you are not going to purpose someone for the second time unless you are very sure. So I think by the time Bhootiyagiri happened, she is very certain that now he is the one. So that's why you'll see her erupting less and less because he has gotten better, she's gotten better. 

Do you think that when Mallika was hiding her pregnancy in the third season, she was a little unsure of being in Rana’s life once again?

I think more than something about it being in his life, I think she is more afraid of the fact that it might throw him off again. It is very clear that she is going to be with him but she is always afraid because she never knows what might do what to him. So she is hiding it from him. It's not that she doesn't plan to tell him, she's just waiting for the right moment to do it.

Since you, sumeet and Pranay have worked together in the last season, do you think it was more comfortable and fun on sets this time?

Yes I would say so. Most of the time I've been lucky that I've always liked my co-actors. The truth is you also have to spend like 12 hours with someone. I think what we really had in common is that we have similar acting sensibility. We are not the type of actors who will just be like lets do whatever is written. We are all the type of actors who will ask, if something doesn't work for us in the script we would go the director and say I need this to be different or how can we approach this. We plan our scenes before we go into shoot. We think about what we're gonna say. It might be well written but sometimes it doesn't make sense to you as an actor. But yes, they are two very fun guys. They are two really sweet, very respectful, funny guys. It's very interesting, when you come back for a season, you may not have been in touch the whole time but when you come back, you pick up from where you left of. 

Would you like to share any memorable or funny incident from the sets?

Few funny things that happened was when you're filming a horror show, it might look scary when you see it on screen. But to make something scary, it's actually very funny when you're actually watching jt being filmed. So if you're showing a table suddenly starting to move, there's a guy sitting under the table who's trying to move it. The making of horror is like a comedy. 

You and cash also share a very different kind of relationship in the show. What do you have to say about that?

That is something that Pranay and I created on our own. I knew pranay because his wife Kriti is my sister in law in my other show 'What the Folks'. Kriti and I became really close at that time so I knew him really well by the time. We don't actually have this dynamic in real life, we don't make fun of each other, we're friends. But it kind of just started because the relationship that was given, when we read it we were like what can we bring to this.
