Eijaz Khan's PROUD moment..!

While on one hand, he is garnering accolades for his brilliant acting in 'Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai', on the other hand, several other ventures have kept him busy.

And it isn't just any project but is, in fact, an elite and rare honour that the actor was given recently.

Eijaz was recently present at the 22nd South Africa Freedom Day celebration, where he was privileged to meet her excellency, Ms Maropene Ramokgopa, the Consul General of South Africa.

In an exclusive chat with us, the actor told us, "It was the 22nd Freedom Day celebration. And I feel privileged that I was one of the few invitees to this prestigious event. I had the honour of meeting her excellency, Ms Maropene Ramokgopa and other elite individuals. It was a moment of pride and elation for me."

He added, "What we don't tend to realise is that we, India as a country, have such deep roots in South Africa. Mahatma Gandhi, one of our flag bearers of Indian independence was in fact in South Africa when the whole propaganda about the fight for independence commenced. So, it is amazing and it gave me a totally different perspective. Though they got their Independence much later than us, they value it so much which got me to convey a lot of respect for them. I cannot thank enough for this honour."

On being asked if there was any particular instance, he remembers and would take away with him, he tells, "There were these two gentlemen who were playing Simon and Garfunkel's music which got us dancing, which was great. Also, I was really embarrassed when people started asking me about my visiting card. I couldn't have explained to them that I am an Indian actor, so I vowed to make myself a card, first thing (laughs)."

Indeed a proud moment for Eijaz and for all his fans!
