In the span of seven years, ever since his Bollywood debut, actor Ayushmann Khurrana has impressed the audience with his choice of content-driven movies. From starting his career as a sperm donor to fighting off the casteism system in rural India and tickling the audiences’ funny bone as seductive Pooja, Ayushmann has done it all.
Although the actor has been making headlines, due the similarities between his upcoming movie Bala and Sunny Singh’s Ujda Chaman, both the movies revolve around a man suffering through pre-mature balding, his last release has been winning accolades from everywhere.
Produced by powerhouse producer Ekta Kapoor, Dream Girl has had a fantastic run at the box office and continues to have a strong-hold even in its sixth week since the release. The film that hit the screens on September 13, raked in Rs. 1.70 crore in its 5th weekend, taking the grand total to Rs.139.70 crore.
While Dream Girl recorded the biggest opening for Ayushmann Khurrana, it has now also become his highest-grossing film and has beaten the lifetime collections of Badhaai Ho, which collected Rs. 137.61 crore.
Interestingly, Dream Girl has also become the highest-grossing film for Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the movie also starred Nushrat Bharucha, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Rajesh Sharma, Vijay Raaz, Nidhi Bisht and Raj Bhansali in important roles.
On the work front last seen in Dream Girl, Ayushmann Khurrana will be seen Bala opposite Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar, Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan which is a spin-off of his 2017 hit Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.
