Actor, singer and writer Donald Glover is a father again. For the third time. Glover welcomes the birth of his third child with partner Michelle White.
Glover did so in a GQ interview with I May Destroy You and Chewing Gum creator and star Michaela Coel, which covered a wide range of issues, including their careers and the current racial justice protests.
"It was nuts," Glover said of the experience. "My son had just been born, like, an hour before and I was watching the George Floyd video. It was such a weird moment."
The actor, writer, comedian and rapper known as Childish Gambino went on to describe the surrealness that accompanied having his third son in the current moment. "It was such an intense, weird moment, because I’m watching that video and it’s like eight minutes long, so you’re sitting there and I had just had this amazing, joyful, expanding moment..."
Glover noted that he was somewhat speechless about how to encapsulate that moment as a mixture of joy and loss. “I don’t even know what, really, the word is to describe it,” the comedian told Coel. “It was just expanding: the empathy and compassion and the terror and the joy of it.”
Glover also shared that the couple had named their son after his father, who passed away in 2018. Glover had his first son, Legend, in October 2016. He announced that White was pregnant with their second son, Drake, during the 2017 Emmys, while accepting his award for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series.
We wish the couple loads of congratulations.
