Donal Bisht says she was promised that Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji would go on for a year, at least

It has just been two months since Jasmin Bhasin has been replaced by Donal Bisht in the popular TV series 'Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji' ('DTHHJ'). While Donal was roped in for the role, she was informed that the show is on air for atleast a year. But now the latest buzz is that the show is being pulled off air in the first week of August. 

Recently, in an interview with the Times of India, Donal expressed her disappointment over the same. She said that she wasn’t expecting things to turn out like this. It’s heartbreaking and she felt bad when they were informed that 'DTHHJ' will go off air. She had quite a few offers, but she chose this show, so it’s disheartening when the unexpected happens. However, she would like to believe that this has happened for the better.

For a girl who was initially hesitant to take up the show, was convinced by the makers that the show would go on for a year atleast. She said that she was a little reluctant to step in for someone else. Being a part of the industry, she knew how a show is faring and about its future. She had asked the producers about the chances of 'DTHHJ' going off air, but they were confident that it would not end. She was even promised that the show would run for at least a year, but it’s ending in two months of her joining. 

Besides, when the protagonist is replaced, it’s usually for the betterment of the show. Considering all these, she took it up. In fact, the makers were planning to shift the set from Naigaon to Film City in October. However, the industry is unpredictable and so is the fate of TV shows. The channel has decided to shut it down even though the ratings haven’t dropped. Just when people started appreciating Donal's bond with the kid and her chemistry with Rocky (Ansh Bagri), they decided to end the show.

She says that she hasn’t been given any reason for its abrupt ending.  Having said that, an artiste doesn’t have a say in such decisions. They can just be glad that things worked out initially. She says that she is happy to be associated with this show and the two-month short journey has been sweet.
