Dipika Kakar recalls abruptly stopping breastfeeding her son due to cancer: 'Main bohot zyada royi…'

A few days back, Sasural Simar Ka actress Dipika Kakar shared a devastating news of suffering from stage 2 liver cancer. Following severe stomach pain, doctors found a tumor the size of a tennis ball in her liver, later confirmed as cancerous. Following surgery at Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital, she announced she is free from the tumour but requires ongoing treatment. Upon returning home, she posted a YouTube video expressing gratitude to her fans, doctors, and hospital staff. She revealed the most challenging aspect was abruptly weaning her son, Ruhaan, overnight after receiving her cancer diagnosis and the need for major surgery, sharing that she was deeply moved by the sudden change and cried extensively that night.

Dipika said, “Sabse pehli jo cheez karni thi, jo I think mere liye sabse zyada…one of the most difficult things is pure ek mahine mein rahi hai, was weaning off Ruhaan in one night. Mere paas option hi nahi tha. I had to do that and main bohot royi us raat ko. Main bohot zyada royi. (The very first thing I had to do — and I think this has been one of the hardest things for me in the entire past month — was weaning Ruhaan off in just one night. I had no other option. I had to do it, and I cried a lot that night. I cried so much)."

She explained that, although Ruhaan was approaching two years old and weaning was inevitable, she hadn't anticipated it happening so suddenly.

The actress further added, “But ab body mein hazaar dawaiyaan jayengi, treatment hoga, and aisi situation mein bachhe ko aap na feed karo wohi better hota hai. (But now, with so many medicines going into my body and treatment starting, it’s better not to breastfeed a child in such a situation)."

Dipika expressed sincere gratitude for her fans' prayers and well wishes, stating they meant a great deal to her. She mentioned that she had cried a lot out of happiness, knowing that so many people loved her so much, and felt truly blessed and proud of earning so much love.
