Veteran Bollywood actor and comedian Dinyar Contractor left for heavenly abode this morning. Known for films like Baazigar, 36 China Town, Khiladi and many more, the 79-year-old actor died of old-age related illness as per reports.
A few minutes back, his family members and near and dear ones bid him a final goodbye with teary eyes. His funeral took place at the Parsi Prayer Hall, Worli Crematorium. Here are a few pictures from his funeral.
Dinyar was a popular theatre actor and Bollywood personality and earlier this year he was awarded with a Padma Shri Award that was presented to him by the President of India, Ramnath Kovind. After receiving the prestigious award by the hands of the President, he expressed his happiness while speaking to the Parsi Times, Dinyar was quoted saying, “I’m elated to receive this honour and have been flooded with congratulatory calls since it was announced! I’m thankful to God and to all my well-wishers. I’ve never worked for awards. When I got the call from Delhi, I thought it’s not genuine – someone’s just playing the fool. But I realized it’s the truth when I started getting numerous congratulatory calls from distinguished personalities, and when it sunk in, I was quite surprised!”
We pray for his departed soul to rest in peace and may God grant strength to his family to bear the loss.
