Diljit Dosanjh faces ongoing threats from banned Khalistani group SFJ over touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet—a move SFJ calls an insult to 1984 Sikh genocide victims. Diljit Dosanjh stays unbattered by threats, radiating positivity. Amid SFJ’s backlash over his Amitabh Bachchan gesture, he shares concert vibes on social media.
About the controversy
Controversy sparked when a promo showed Diljit Dosanjh touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet. On Oct 29, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a banned Khalistani group, threatened the singer, with chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun vowing to disrupt his Nov 1 Australia concert. SFJ stated: "Dosanjh insulted every victim, every widow, and every orphan of 1984 Sikh Genocide" by the gesture.
The SFJ accused Amitabh Bachchan of inciting violence by raising the genocidal slogan "Khoon Ka Badla Khoon (Blood for Blood)," claiming it led to the deaths of "30,000 Sikh men, women, and children across India."
When Diljit addressed the controversy
SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun condemned Diljit Dosanjh’s gesture of touching Bachchan’s feet: "By touching feet of Bachchan—the man whose words orchestrated Genocide, Diljit Dosanjh has insulted every victim, every widow, and every orphan of 1984 Sikh Genocide."
After the threats, Diljit Dosanjh addressed the controversy, emphasizing his KBC 17 appearance was for Punjab flood relief, not self-promotion. On Nov 1, he posted on Instagram: "Na Mai Kisey Film Di Promotion Lai Geya c, Na Kisey Ganey Di Promotion Lai. Punjab Floods Lai Geya C..Ke National Level Te Gal Hove.. Te Loki Donate kar Sakan." ("I didn’t go to promote a film or a song. I went for the Punjab floods—so it’d spark national action, and people could donate.")
