Veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who was admitted to a hospital a few days back after complaining of breathing problems will be discharged from Mumbai's PD Hinduja Hospital today. Dr. Jalil Parkar, the pulmonologist treating the actor confirmed the news, as reported by Pinkvilla.
The 98-year-old screen icon was admitted to suburban Khar-based Hinduja Hospital, a non-COVID-19 facility, on Sunday.
Kumar was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion - a build-up of excess fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs underwent a successful pleural aspiration procedure on Wednesday.
Now, according to recent reports, the legendary actor has been doing well and he is likely to be discharged today. Dr Jalil Parkar said, “He will be discharged on Friday morning.”
While several reports suggested that he would be discharged from the hospital on Thursday, it looks like that did not happen, and the veteran actor will be discharged today.
Earlier, Saira Banu had slammed the death rumours and stated that he will get discharged in 2-3 days. She had written on Twitter: "Don’t believe in WhatsApp forwards. Saab is stable. Thank you for your heart-felt duas and prayers. As per doctors, he should be home in 2-3 days. Insh’Allah."
In a career spanning five decades, Dilip Kumar has been a part of many iconic films like Mughal-e-Azam, Devdas, Naya Daur and Ram Aur Shyam. His last big-screen appearance was the 1998 film Qila.
