A legal dispute has emerged around Dhurandhar The Revenge as Trimurti Films has approached the court against filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s banner B62 Studios. The complaint focuses on the alleged unauthorised use of the song Hum Pyar Karne Wale in the film, even as it continues its theatrical run across cinemas.

As per a report by Bar and Bench, the plaintiff has claimed that the track, or a closely similar version, appears in the film without necessary permissions. The song was originally featured in the 1989 film Dil, co composed by Anand–Milind, with lyrics by Sameer Anjaan, and vocals by Anuradha Paudwal and Udit Narayan.

Trimurti Films has stated that it holds ownership or control over the relevant rights tied to the composition and sound recording. The suit alleges that the use of the track amounts to copyright infringement, including unauthorised reproduction and public communication. The company has sought an injunction to restrain further use of the song, along with damages and additional reliefs.

The complaint also raises concerns over the commercial exploitation of the track across multiple platforms. These include theatrical screenings, streaming platforms and promotional material associated with the film. A lyrical video released by T-Series on YouTube credits the original singers and lyricist, adding another layer to the ongoing dispute.

Dhurandhar The Revenge stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The film explores the origin of Jaskirat Singh Rangi and his transformation into Hamza Ali Mazari. It traces his rise within the underworld of Lyari while he pursues a covert mission linked to a larger terror network.

The film also features Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun, with a cameo by Yami Gautam. The film continues to report strong box office collections despite the ongoing controversy.

Legal experts note that the outcome of this case may influence how music rights are negotiated and enforced in future film projects across the industry.
