Dhanteras marks the beginning of Diwali celebrations.
It literally means the day of wealth when shoppers come home to light the first lamps of Diwali. It is a festival that unleashes many prolific number of shopaholics and most people tend to invest into buying gold and silver as a symbol of it bringing in good fortune to their lives.

This Dhanteras, let's take a look at some of the most 'money hungry' characters in daily soaps.
Tanu and Aaliya in Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV:
Tanu is one of the highly absurd characters in Kumkum Bhagya who shouts and claims that she is madly in love with Abhi but all she cares about is to cease Abhi's money and fame. And supporting her mission is Aaliya, Abhi's sister who aims for the same.
Tia in Ishqbaaaz on Star Plus:
We found Tia to be a decent girl who loves Shivaay unconditionally. The amount of freedom and space she gives Shivaay is worth a lesson to all women in a relationship and we thought Shivaay is the luckiest person on earth to have such a liberal girlfriend. But apparently there is a shift in the premise of the track and the flowery moments are not going to last long! The way the story is progressing, it looks more like Tia is eyeing Shivaay's property and is even cheating on him.
Sarla in Mere Angne Mein on Star Plus:
Sarla is yet another money minded woman who constantly engages in planning and plotting against Shanti Devi and the family as she intends to somehow filch the impressive property.
Rano in Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki on Colors:
Rishi's mother believes it's not love but money that makes the world go around. She is ambitious and money-minded from the start of the show when she decided to move to America, thus breaking the blooming love story between Rishi and Tanu.
Radha Rani in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke on Colors:
Over all, this character is greedy and is a self-proclaimed 'garib ki beti' who is never content with whatever she has. And the show has also highlighted her money minded nature when she burnt down her own house for insurance money.
Naman in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus:
Naman was seen in good light so far but his character gained immense importance when he caused harm to Naitik and intended to have complete control over his property to show he too is a 'somebody' in the family.
