The Dharma Productions head honcho, Karan Johar announced the ensemble cast of his supremely ambitious project Takht over a year back. The magnum opus project stars actors such as Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor. The so big so good star cast raised the bar for the audience, who have been eagerly waiting for any further development regarding the larger than life film.

Here are some details to mark an end to all the wait and spill some beans about the film set in the Mughal era. The filming of Takht will begin next year, in between the end of February and the first week of March. The film being a periodical drama, the visuals will be one of the most crucial elements in conveying the true essence of the story, and KJo doesn’t want to compromise there, quoted Bollywood Hungama.

“The film will be extensively shot in Italy. The picturesque castles and old architecture of the country speak history, and KJo wants to capture the elegance. To make it further look like the Mughal era, he also plans to use VFX. They’re planning to execute the shoot on a grand scale in Italy,” a source told the entertainment portal.

“The indoor shoots, however, will be done on grand sets in Mumbai”, the source further added.

A report in the Times of India had revealed the characters played by each of the ensemble star cast. Reportedly, Ranveer will be essaying the role of Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Shahjahan, while Vicky will be stepping into the shoes of his younger brother Aurangzeb. Kareena will be seen playing Shahjahan's daughter Jahanara Begum.

Alia will reportedly play Ranveer's wife Begum Nadira Banu in the film, while the role of Aurangzeb’s wife Dilras Banu Begum will reportedly be played by Bhumi Pednekar. And finally, Janhvi Kapoor is expected to be seen as a slave girl in the epic.

The film is yet to have a fixed release date but is slated to hit the screens in 2020.

KJO and his team needs to go back to school and read basic history, geography and gain some perspective. We want to see movies with good stories, not grand sets and Manish Malhotra costumes.

Maybe start coming up with new and original ideas instead of repeating the same crap over and over again.

This is hilarious, if true! Karan Johar's obsession with white people and recycled or up-cycled ideas will never end. There aren't enough Mughal architecture in India, and its surrounding countries or similar in Turkey, right?. Didn't know the Mughals made a trip to Europe on the way to the jats?!? Renaissance Architecture is exactly the same as Mughal/Mogul, sure! Enough of these period piece regurgitation, just because Bahubali worked doesn't mean every upchucked reinvention will! Bahubali thankfully wasn't even BollyHood! Please! An original thought might be healthy!
