0New Delhi, Sep 2 (IANS) Come October and fashion designer Renu Tandon will head for Dubai to make her debut at the prestigious Dubai Fashion Week (DFW).
Dubai-based fashion house 'Mumbai Se' has invited Tandon to be part of the event scheduled for the Middle East city October 5-9, a statement from the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) said.
Tandon's show, slated Oct 7, would be sponsored by public-owned Red Sea Housing Services (RSH).
'I am honoured for this opportunity to represent Indian design on the international platform. I am thankful to the RSH Group and FDCI, who have recognized my talent,' said Tandon.
'Such invitations are heart warming and inculcate immense strength to do great work,' she added.
Her label 'Mynah' is about a dazzling array of fashion apparel. Her forte lies in elaborate draping and exquisite construction of costumes, both Indian and western. Her cocktail collections are a big hit in Mumbai as well as in Dubai, where she has her exclusive store.
The designer has been showcasing her collection at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) since 2007 and her designs bring out a sense of femininity and sensuality in women. Apart from India, her creations are also available in Dubai, Jakarta, Qatar, Kuwait, Singapore, Hong Kong, Morocco, London and Los Angeles.
Congratulating the designer for her participation at DFW, FDCI's president Sunil Sethi said, 'We are extremely proud when Indian creativity is showcased around the world. I wish her all the best.'
An annual event, Dubai Fashion Week brings together major stakeholders of the fashion industry by providing them a single platform. It enables local and regional designers and fashion houses to present their collection to global and regional buyers, media, fashion professionals and the general public.
