The deadly Covid-19 has reached Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone’s house. Her father and legendary Indian badminton player Prakash Padukone has tested positive for COVID-19. 

About 10 days ago, the Padukone family developed symptoms of the virus and isolated themselves. However,   the badminton legend continued to have fever even after a week. He was then hospitalised in Bengaluru, where he is currently recovering from the virus.

The 65-year-old is the first Indian to win the prestigious All England Championships title in 1980, and is one of the most respected figures in world badminton.

Deepika’s mother Ujjala Padukone and sister Anisha Padukone have also contracted the virus and tested Covid Positive. The duo is under home quarantine and battling the virus. 

Vimal Kumar, a close friend of the legendary shuttler and director at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA) confirmed the same to PTI and said: 

"Around 10 days back, Prakash, his wife (Ujjala) and second daughter (Anisha), they developed symptoms and got themselves tested and the results came out to be positive.”

Kumar also informed that Mr. Padukone is in a stable condition now and will be discharged from the hospital in 2-3 days. He added: 

"He is okay now. All his parameters are fine, his wife and daughter are at home and he too will be hopefully discharged in 2-3 days.”

We wish the Padukone family a very speedy recovery...
