Deepika REVEALS she DECLINED a film due to gender pay disparity!

Currently, Deepika Padukone is one of the highest paid actress in B-town. Along with acting the actress has also helmed the baton to be the producer in the film fraternity. The fans are going to be treated with Deepika's upcoming film 'Chhapaak' which will be directed by Meghna Gulzar.

Furthermore, Deepika was recently spotted attending a book launch, which included her battle with depression. During the launch, the actress spoke valiantly about the issues pertaining to female actors, especially the dreaded pay gap disparity on the basis of gender. The Padmaavat star got candid about refusing a movie due to the pay gap with her male co-star.

"I know my track record and what I'm worth. I know that his films haven't been doing well as my films have been doing. It made absolutely no sense. I was okay to say no to that film based on that one thing as I thought it was unfair," Deepika revealed.

Further shedding light on how it is unfair to have the pay gap based on gender instead of getting one's worth on account of their creative talent, the actress stated, "I'm ready to take those steps and measures and decisions for myself because I want to be able to sleep peacefully at night."

Adding to it, she said "I don't think I'll be able to live with the thought knowing that I have been a part of a film, had the same creative contribution or bringing the same value to a film but being underpaid."
