Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor became the first Bollywood celebrity to get infected with Coronavirus. She was among the four people who tested positive for it in Uttar Pradesh.
Kanika flew down to Lucknow a few days ago and had thrown a lavish party for her friends and family. A large number of bureaucrats, politicians and socialites had attended the party. She also attended Akbar Ahmad’s party where many political personalities were present.
Amongst the many people Kanika partied with was former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and her son Dushyant Singh, who attended a dinner party with the ‘Baby Doll’ singer who has been tested positive for COVID-19.
“While in Lucknow, I attended a dinner with my son Dushyant & his in-laws. Kanika, who has unfortunately tested positive for #Covid19 was also a guest. As a matter of abundant caution, my son & I have immediately self-quarantined and we’re taking all necessary precautions,” Raje said in a tweet.
https://twitter.com/VasundharaBJP/status/1240953398746157056Reportedly, Dushyant Singh, who is an MP, also attended Parliament the next day after attending the party and was sitting with Surendra Nagar Nishikant and Manoj Tewari in the Central Hall on Thursday. It is learnt that Dushyant Singh has isolated himself since then.
Kanika returned to Lucknow from London and she reportedly did not inform the authorities about her travel history. The singer faced bashing from netizens who tagged her as ‘irresponsible’ and slammed her for risking many lives into danger.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh health department has started calling all the attendees of the party, asking them to isolate themselves and report in case they show any symptoms of the novel coronavirus.
